subj: tragedy fell upon my small family
For a long time my sister endured daily pain in her head caused
by trigeminal nerve, known as trigeminal neuralgia. This
painful condition is caused by swelling of the trigeminal nerve.
The pain is often mistaken for a migraine headache. For a long
time my sister was treated for migraines but the medicine for
migraines didn't really help her. It took years of going to the
doctor before they discovered she has trigeminal neuralgia. She
was given medication for TN, which is a heavy dose of pain
killers, which she spent several years taking. I estimate 20
years of dealing with these issues.
Years ago surgery was an option for her but she didn't like the
risk of having her face partially paralyzed. Then within the
last year she decided to have surgery. Mid may 2025 she had her
head opened and they attempted to put a piece of Teflon between
her brain and the trigeminal nerve. Since that surgery my
sister hasn't been the same and her mental health has degraded.
