Cooperation with the Amerikanisches Reich
By: Confederacy of Turkducken Date: July 7, 2015, 4:09 pm
---------------------------------------------------------
His Excellency wishes to inform the leaders of the
Amerikanisches Reich that he wishes to negotiate cooperation
diplomatically with the State. As we share common boarders and
His Excellency has been greatly intrigued by your State, it
would only seem appropriate that we open negotiations to talk
about shared goals. Furthermore His Excellency acknowledges the
landlocked nature of his own State, and rivers we share should
yield necessary access to the Atlantic Ocean. As it stands our
merchants are restricted by our limited air infrastructure, and
the result of this is a limited exports to the outside world. As
it stands these conditions are bearable but not ideal. We await
any response to our proposal.

Re: Cooperation with the Amerikanisches Reich
By: Amerikanisches Reich Date: July 10, 2015, 7:11 pm
---------------------------------------------------------
From: The Office of the Reichsfhrer-General, via the Ministry
of Economic Development and Trade
To: His Excellency, President Lance Faraday
Your Excellency:
The Reichsfhrers und Volk are most grateful for your outreach,
and, being most deeply committed to the peace and mutual
prosperity of the rightful inheritors of the NeoConfederate
legacy, and further recognizing the economic benefits, if not
necessity, of access to seaways for commercial transport, will
happily oblige your request to negotiate a trade agreement.
Pre-approval has been ordered of the Reichspolizei and SS
Leibstandarte for yourself and/or any of your appropriate
officials or representatives to meet with the Reich leadership
in Elsbethburg, thereby to decide upon the details of an
agreement and, provided acceptable terms are reached, enact it
formally.
The Reichspolizei must inform you that there are some
restrictions for visitors, however:
1. Though the Rassenkundeabteilung Exclusion Act does not,
strictly speaking, apply to diplomatic visitors, it would be
appreciated if none of your party belonged to the ethnic groups
categorically prohibited from Reich citizenship etc. thereby. We
give our solemn oath that no harm would come to them, but it
could lead to embarrassing situations none the less.
((Law is found in this thread:
http://ncsa.createaforum.com/factbooks-and-national-information/post-your-state…
http://ncsa.createaforum.com/factbooks-and-national-information/post-your-state…
/>.))
2. You and/or your representatives may be accompanied by an
armed honor guard of up to a dozen personnel, and their arms may
be kept during the visit, except in the personal presence of the
Reichsfhrers and Reichsmarschall. However, all must be borne
openly. Detection of concealed weapons would lead to suspicion
and, possibly, detention and interrogation, until the purposes
of their possession were determined, and further action taken by
the Reichspolizei or SS Leibstandarte upon that determination.
Of course, the Reich respects diplomatic immunity.
We most humbly beg your pardon if these measures seem
excessively stringent, but you are likely aware that, though the
Party is overwhelmingly popular in the Reich, its doctrines are
loathed by a certain despicable and degenerate minority, given
to violent crime, and attempts have been made on the lives of
the Reichsfhrers. The situation thus dictates that we take
certain precautions; we pray you do not take it as a lack of
trust or good faith.
3. Please pre-register your proposed flight path to Elsbethburg
International, as well as the registration numbers of any
aircraft. The paths will be modified as necessary, if necessary,
and approved, and your pilots will be hailed and cleared to
land, barring any irregularities.
With utmost respect and sincerest admiration,
Reichsfhrer-General Albrecht Dietrich zur Linde

His Excellency is planning his flight trip personally and will
notify your security before arrival. His Excellency, in an
effort to put aside our differences in cooperation, is yielding
to all laws within your State, and to dispel feelings of
distrust, paranoia, and suspicion is arriving with two unarmed
guards from the Elite Volunteers who will also be expected to
confirm to your laws at all times. His Excellency hopes that he
can further deals and diplomacy between our States.

From: The Office of the Reichsfhrer-General
To: His Excellency, President Lance Faraday
Your Excellency:
I deeply appreciate your cooperation and am most honored by your
agreement to take part in these negotiations, but must insist
you need not go so far in appeasing us, if you aren't
comfortable doing so. To be frank, Reichsfhrer-SS Habich is
slightly obsessive when it comes to matters of security, but,
given that she was raised from the Leibstandarte herself, I
suppose that shouldn't be surprising.
None the less, from time to time, I must yield to her judgments.
I quite fully understand they may sound threatening or paranoid,
but hope you may understand it is only from concern for the
safety of the leaders of the Reich, which is, after all, part of
her duty.
At any rate I expect our meeting to be nothing less than
amicable, peaceful, and productive, and urge you to be at ease.
My colleagues and I eagerly await your arrival, and again I
insist nothing untoward will happen barring quite exceptional
circumstances. You will receive a grand welcome as friends of
the Reich, and no expense will be spared for your
accommodations.
Most sincerely,
Reichsfhrer-General Albrecht Dietrich zur Linde

His Excellency will depart on signal from your ground control.
He will be arriving with his unarmed guards in a propeller based
collapsible wing aircraft, as this is the best we can afford for
His Excellency at the moment. His Excellency deeply regrets not
being able to stay in the American Reich longer than a day, but
such are the needs of his people and the stability of his State
very much relies on His Excellency at the moment. However he
will be bringing a gift to the heads of states but will not
quite divulge what said items are.

Albrecht Dietrich zur Linde woke at 8:00 AM with no need for an
alarm, as always, though he would never be a morning person.
Even as he groaned, rolled over, and threw the blanket off his
study's couch roughly, his personal secretary entered his room
and laid a cup of coffee on his endtable.
"Guten morgen, mein Fhrer!" The secretary, in buttoned grey
coat and skirt, with a folded cap, gave a brief Roman salute,
not quite to military standard without lacking enthusiasm, but,
under the circumstances, and given their relationship, he
certainly didn't demand any more.
"Guten morgen, Charlotte; danke." The fhrer yawned as he
gratefully chugged the first coffee, and Charlotte gracefully
took the cup and saucer as she handed over a folder.
"The morning's briefings, sir."
Zur Linde rubbed his eyes as he stood and opened the documents.
His form had surely suffered a bit since his days in the
Waffen-SS, but not so much that he was hesitant to let a pretty
young girl see it. As acutely aware as he was of his thirty-six
years, and as attentively as he secretly marked the days to his
fortieth on the calendar, he maintained some pride that he was
no fattened or emaciated elderly politician in the republican
vein.
As he politely but absentmindedly requested another coffee, he
perused the previous night's reports. They covered everything
from the development of Wehrmacht and Waffen-SS assets to the
dossiers on dissenters by the Reichspolizei. As he skimmed them
all, he searched for one in particular, and found the response
of Turkducken's president to his entreaty.
When Charlotte returned with another cup, and he had finished
reading, he asked her to lay out his uniform and summon the
obergruppenfhrer of the Leibstandarte to his office.
She gave a better salute, this time, and he found he was not too
old to return her smile warmly, to his satisfaction, and, to his
greater satisfaction, he thought she may have blushed slightly.
"Jawohl, mein Fhrer! Es ist mein Vergngen."
***
In his richly appointed office, with walnut panels hung with
red, white, blue and black flags and adorned with hunting
trophies, lit by tall, lead-paneled windows opening to the wide
central boulevards of Elsbethburg, the Reichshrer-General, now
in immaculately-pressed uniform and cap, received another
salute, considerably more professional -- perfect, even.
"Sieg; heil!" SS-Obergruppenfhrer Hans Richter was the image of
the perfect Aryan soldier: Tall, blonde, blue-eyed,
broad-shouldered, and stern in countenance. Zur Linde knew from
his record that he had lived up to his image, and was no empty
uniform. He returned the gesture with as much precision,
clapping his boots together.
"Ehre sowohl, Obergruppenfhrer." Zur Linde tilted his head
carefully, attempting to read the man's expression, but it was
as much like staring at a marble sculpture as ever. "I have a
special task for you, which I think may test your oath to the
fullest: The Turkducken envoys will be arriving soon, and I want
everyone from yourself to the air-traffic controllers to make
sure it goes smoothly.
The trouble is this: Their reply was cryptic and noncommittal
enough that Reinhilde would never have it. So, as your supreme
commander, I have to ask -- no, order -- you not to report to
her directly on this matter until she speaks with me. Ist das
klar?"
For once, and with a bit of perverse gratification on the
Reichsfhrer's part, Richter's graven expression broke as he
frowned and lowered his brow in doubt. Zur Linde stood, clapped
both hands on his desk, and fixed the man with a stern gaze.
"Meine Ehre heit Treue? Is that not it?"
"Jawohl, Reichshrer." Richter lowered his eyes. "It will be as
you command."
"Gut. I want you to understand that this negotiation is vital to
the Reich's economy, and, so, to the health and strength of der
Volk, and the SS and Wehrmacht, including Reichshrer Habich's.
It is no disloyalty to her to heed me in this. So, please be
about it."

The plane buzzed loudly in the President's ear, he could not
sleep, though in light of the relative distance between the
Reich and his home he did not think it entirely necessary.
Holding his head in his hands looking downwards at the aluminum
plating of the rough passenger hold of the plane, he began to
doubt himself, "This plane is the best the Minister of
Infrastracture could offer me, I suppose I shouldn't blame her,
but what does this say about the state of my home?" He looked at
his guards, two grown men both in their late 40s, "They seem to
have comforted themselves enough, I'm not sure how they could
sleep at a time like this." Turbulence hit the craft, and the
pilot murmured, or rather yelled through the noise, an apology.
Turning back to his own thoughts the President began to wonder
of the people of the Reich, "The paperwork we exchanged was very
formal, clearly a developed state with a sophisticated
government." He thought back to the peculiar language he read in
the correspondence, "German." He realized, "I used to know some
German, my father spoke it." He thought back to those days of
carefree wonder and tried to remember if he knew it still, the
silence was his answer. The pilot yelled across the plane again
"We've entered their airspace sir, contacting ground control
now." The President grew nervous, he mentally imagined himself
as a reminder of what is expected, dark hair, stubble, dark
eyes, late 20s. "They would see me as I see me, young and
inexperienced, I need to prove myself. Not only to the Reich but
to this Confederacy, this is my first time abroad I need to be
prepared." As they flew through the Reich's sky he mentally
reminded himself of his goals, one final time.

Soon as President Faraday's transport entered Reich airspace,
two Horten Ho 529 fighters thundered past from the opposite
heading, shaking the slower plane further, banked, and, finding
they couldn't slow enough to match it without breaking their
stall speed, proceeded to overtake it gradually, their pilots
saluting and dipping their wings as they did so, and radioing in
clear, if accented and mixed, English:
"Sieg heil Herr President! Identification is unnecessary; the
Reichshrer-General has personally approved your path, and
airspace has been cleared. Air traffic control will instruct you
on the proper landing approach. It is our honor to escort you
the remainder of the distance."
After they had ranged well beyond the president's transport,
they banked and passed again, less closely this time, and
repeated the maneuver until the monumental structures of
Elsbethburg, ostentatiously adorned with the Amerikanisches
Reich banner, became visible, at which point they broke off
after a final salute.

The small plane touched down on the runway in Elsbethburg. The
passengers, relatively, undisturbed.
