A B-24H-5 from 450th BG, 15th AF, crash-lands in Manduria
airfield, Italy's Foggia region, summer 1944.
The tents in the background illustrated the typical living
conditions for many of the 15th AF crews in south Italy.

Caption on this one also says Bassingbourn... note the different
planes there in the grass? WTF? Gate Guardians or merely
randomly parked there?

Thanks Beo :)
If you look close the hardstand is made of PSP planking. You can
see some "un-used" fingers of it in the lower left of the
picture. We have PSP planking in the sim, this one would be very
easy to replicate. :)

Right... I noticed those 'fingers'... also, note if you would
the 'shallow' hole or dip that the hardstand is placed in...
very nice protection against small bombs and particularly would
be difficult for strafing planes, eh?
Also there's a tent (?) in the right background facing the
pic... and to the far left, what looks like several Quonset hut
type prefab buildings...with small foot paths leading down
towards the hardstands and that road/taxi-way. VERY
INTERESTING. I've never seen such a setup before!
GREAT FIND! 8)
