2024 Summer Olympics (Paris)

Given the amount of commenting on the opening ceremony that we
did on the ToD today I think it is safe to assume that we are
still going to want to talk about events as they happen and
such, so... have at it. :)

Team USA wins its first medal of the Paris Summer Olympics
"Divers Sarah Bacon and Kassidy Cook have won
the United States first medal of the Paris Olympics.
Bacon and Cook took home the silver in the 3-meter
synchronized springboard competition,
held at the Aquatics Center in Saint-Denis, north of Paris.
This is the first time the U.S. has medaled in the event
since 2012."
The photo of them says it all.

i'm waiting for some contractors to come trim a tree for me so i
have the Olympics on tv (NBC).
it's a long distance cycle racing time trial so not too exciting
at the moment. but even though it's raining (again), i just
love the sights of stunning Paris streets and architecture in
the background.
*Brava, Paris ~ !
*i looked up to see whether Paris is considered feminine or
masculine, and apparently both are used depending whether it's a
spoken or literary reference. deGaulle said it was masculine,
but i'm considering it feminine : )

On my provider, these channels show the Olympics:
NBC

CNBC
E!
Not sure if it's 24/7, but some live broadcasts.

How can you not love Katie Ledecky?
She swims because she loves it. Im sure she is competitive but
mostly she great because shes doing what she does best.

Algorithm gotcha!
Among a variety of other competitions, I watched some of the
swimming this morning.
I'm now getting ads for pool cleaning supplies.
I do not now and have never owned a swimming pool nor shopped
for chlorine.
I watched gymnastics... are ads for leotards next?
The surfing competition from Tahiti... ads for cruises on my
horizon?
Equestrian events... they gonna try to sell me a saddle?
what a trip!
😄

Ive played a bit of water polo. Keeping my head above water
exhausted me much less try to catch and pass a ball.
I also used to ski with a guy whod played in college. He said
they all wore more than one suit since since they often got
pieces torn off.
