One thing Im really enjoying about the Olympics is that the
athletes seem a bit more loosened up. And the memes, of course.

Mondo Duplantis wins another gold medal and sets another world
record in the pole vault. Talk about "league of his own."
This is where I remember how much fun it was to watch his dad,
Greg Duplantis, at track meets in high school. I was a crappy
long jumper at another school; we'd see Lafayette High at meets.
Everybody would just watch Greg. Now it turns out his kid is
better than him.

I loved seeing how excited Rebecca Andrade was to win gold on
floor and the Italian woman on beam.
And the Americans showed such respect to Rebecca which was nice
to see.
Actually there was a lot of congratulations among and across all
the teams in gymnastics somewhat less so among the swimmers and
track athletes.

A whale got its turn in the spotlight on the last day of Olympic
surfing.
Cool photo and video.
I've been watching some of the surfing but missed this one.

Great article, too. Biles is enormously talented and
extraordinarily generous.

Romania challenged Chiles bronze, claiming a technicality- the
US challenge was made too late. Apparently on review the US
challenge was clocked in a 1 minute and 4 seconds. Challenges
need to be made within 1 minute. So it looks like Chiles lost
the bronze even though she earned it score-wise. Sort of.
Based on this article, the scores were switched back to the
original, which placed a Chiles in 5th.
What a messed up situation. A mistake by the judges isnt
rectified due to a technicality. But rules are rules?
