Sports!

Want to discuss football, baseball, or another athletic sport?
I'm here for ya.
I'm looking forward to the MLB playoffs, and the start of the
NFL season. How about you all?
I'm not into fantasy football and the like; I prefer to focus on
the actual games, rather than individual statistics and/or
sports gambling.
Here's the article that caught my attention this morning:
https://www.nytimes.com/2021/09/09/sports/baseball/manager-tendencies.html
Title: "Was That Bunt Weird or Is Your Manager Mike Matheny?: A
treasure trove of sortable statistics for managers gives fans
the ability to track their teams tendencies on things like
stolen bases, intentional walks, ejections and, yes, bunts."
My favorite teams are the Detroit Tigers, Green Bay Packers, and
the Chicago Cubs.
And I love a rollicking debate about the Chicago Bears. I've
discussed that team with Chicagoans all over the city.
Fellow sports fans, represent, please! I know a lot of Hax
commenters don't give a rip, so...

I predict that this will be an echo chamber with you, me, and
ADude, maybe Buffy.
I follow my teams in football and baseball. After all of these
years I also have a mild interest in the teams where some of my
favorite players ended up as well. Right now the Sox are
tanking right on schedule, with a few little gems now and again
just to get my hopes up before dashing them right before the
playoffs. Renfroe's outfield assist last night about stopped my
heart. In a good way.
I'd like to learn hockey because it's fun to watch but it goes
so fast I can't learn enough to really enjoy it. I just can't
get into basketball.

[member=6]Queenie[/member]: Red Sox, I presume? I put my phone
down when Kyle Schwarber comes up to bat.
And I hate the Yankees.

The NFL starts tonight, maybe I'll get into that, baseball
kinda, well, kicked me in the pills this year so I'm not really
caring too much about the playoffs, hope the white sox either
win it or lose it in some horrifying fashion.
Maybe I'll root for Kris Bryant.
Don't have high hopes for the bears, they just endlessly do the
dumb thing. They drafted an exciting new QB but are insisting on
starting andy dalton for unfathomable reasons, justin fields
will learn nothing watching him suck for four weeks.

I am a third generation member of Red Sox Nation, and proudly
so. I want to hate the Yankees but sometimes I just can't, some
of their players are pretty great. I do frequently wish that
Brett Gardner would sit on a fire ant hill, though.
I want to love Schwarber but I fear he'll be another Princess
DLsburry, great when he's hot and stuck on the IL about half the
time. I have a serious baseball crush on Renfroe this year.

I can't help but watch the Bucs. Part of me wants to see Brady
defy Father time again, and part of me wants him to stink up the
joint. I definitely watch my secret boyfriend Patrick Mahomes
every chance I get.

Aaron Rodgers rode the bench for three years before being handed
the starting job, AD. Starting Justin Fields in week one would
be like throwing him to the wolves.
The big question is, can the Bears (and their fans) be patient
enough to let their potential future star QB listen and learn
for a while? To let him get up to NFL speed before tossing him
the keys and saying, "Have fun!"? Or will they do like they
normally do, and rush him in, not protect him well, and then
wonder why their QB prospects never seem to pan out well, yet
again?
Fields is the real deal. Not sure the Bears will help him
blossom, though! They don't exactly have a great track record in
this regard.

I watch the NHL playoffs. Never been to a game, but I'm curious!
So, fire away!
Heck, people could talk about curling, if that's what floats
their boat...

Bill Belichick drafted a qb and is starting him game one.
is there some reason Mack Jones is okay to start week one and
Justin Fields needs to wait?
Andy Dalton is not Brett Favre.
If you ask me I think if you are doing the opposite of what
Belichick is doing, you might be wrong.
