The Chair on Netflix. Sandra Oh and some funny guy. Great
physical and cerebral comedy. Sadly, only one season. Maybe a
bit ageist. Maybe Im sensitive about that too.
Vera on Britbox. Season 498. kidding, season 11, I think.

I just watched Level 16 on Netflix. Meh.
Like Lurk, I watched The Chair. Amazing how they run that
college with no adjuncts! ;-)

Seems like all the good stuff is on HBO (which I dont have).
I do have Amazon & Netflix, so I'm always open to any recs
there.
Almost done with Clickbait (Netflix). It's turning twistier
than I'd first thought: it's okay, but not fabulous.

I want to watch Clickbait. A friend is watching it and he likes
it.

A new season of Goliath just dropped. I watched eight episodes
last night.

"What We Do in the Shadows"
I love to laugh and this show does it for me.

We just started Reservation Dogs on FX and it's really good.
Both poignant and funny.
We just finished The Other Two on HBO Max, which has SNL writers
AND Molly Shannon! It was really really funny.
Nine Perfect Strangers was meh.
Anxiously awaiting the next season of Succession, which starts
in October, also on HBO Max.
HBO Max felt like an indulgence when we signed up but it is the
streaming service we watch most. Mare of Easttown, Hacks, White
Lotus - so much good content. And you get to see all Warner
Brothers movies they same day they release in the theaters.
Highly recommend.

Succession! I am anxiously awaiting the new season too. I love
that show. What a cliffhanger they left us with last season.
HBO is worth paying for (in whatever format works best) in my
humble opinion. Bill Maher, John Oliver, and all of their
series and limited series are pretty darn good. Documentaries
and original films too. Spike Lee's recent "NYC Epicenters" was
moving and sad and quite excellent.

Anybody watching newly released Midnight Mass series (Netflix)?
It was created/directed by Mike Flanigan, same guy who did The
Haunting of Hill House & Haunting of Bly Manor (totally loved
HillHouse & liked Bly).
I'm saving it to watch closer to Halloween, but just wondering
if anyone's checked it out.

Reservation Dogs
I've tried 3 different times to get through the White Lotus
pilot and have failed every time, but I'll keep trying, maybe.
We're also just now starting Treme (from the creators of The
Wire, ran from 2010-2013), but that's slow going because we both
know it'll rip out our hearts and stomp on them.

Update: Still loving Reservation Dogs
I finally got through the White Lotus pilot and figured out what
was tripping me out about it - they're REALLY good with the
camera angles and they keep reminding you you're a voyeur spying
on these people. I feel like I'm watching this show while
hunched down in the bushes wearing a trench coat.
Also we caught the first episode of the Wonder Years
reboot/reimagining! It's really good! I never thought of Dul
Hill as a patriarch but he's knocking it out of the park.

White Lotus is worth powering through the first couple of
episodes to get invested, IMO. It was really well done and after
it was over I thought it about for days.
This has spoilers but is a great read after you finish watching:

Nine Perfect Strangers is a poor man's White Lotus. Still poking
at wealth and privilege but with a muddier message and horrible
fake Russian accent.
