ROFL! My Smudge does this to me. She insists on plastering
herself up as close to me as she can possibly be. Since I sleep
on my side, she wants to curl up next to my face and have my arm
around her other side. I think she is cold sometimes. She has a
very slim build, she's part Siamese, and is the only cat I have
who will crawl completely under the covers, snuggle up against
me and stay put until I offend her by daring to move. She was
completely under the sheet, blanket and duvet last night for
about 90 minutes.
I don't mind the snuggling as long as I can breathe, however
there are a few conditions. I will snuggle her face, belly, back
or flanks. Ol' One Eye has to point the other direction. ;D

Duchess, dear,
I know you love sitting in the window and watching the back yard
show. Those sounds you make when you are hunting whichever
bird or squirrel has captured your attention are adorable. Such
a fierce hunter you are.
But do you really have to hunt at 6 AM?

Dear Spencer,
I know it was incredibly stressful to spend the night at the
vet's. But vets are not for "nibbling" on. You're lucky they put
it in those terms, rather than "mauling."

Dear cat,
I am not amputating your paws. I am trimming the curled under
part of your claw away and keeping your claws blunt instead of
so sharp they ruin all of my work clothing.

Dear Lucy,
Thank you for your patience with the Smallest Human. She isn't
quite two, and your quiet acceptance of the fact that she is
fascinated with you is more than impressive. When she walks up
to you, leans over, and greets you with an enthusiastic, "Hi,
Su-su!," you make her day. When you let her pat your head for a
half of a second before calmly standing up and moving to a
higher position where you can't be reached, you are the
definition of grace and gentleness.
You are the best!
Sincerely, Me.
Dear Max,
I am so sorry about the Smallest Human. I'm not sure when, if
ever, you'll be ready to forgive me for bringing her home and I
almost hate to let you in on the fact that there will be
another, even smaller human moving in before the year is out...
It took fifteen months before you even spoke to me again after
the first one, and I'm just not sure that our friendship will
survive another little girl wanting to tell you, "Hi!" and give
you kisses while you try to hide behind the sofa. Well, even so,
my love for you remains. I plan to be here when both girls have
graduated and moved on, so maybe we can work on our relationship
then.
Missing you always,
Me

Spencer, you don't understand why Sister is dancing around the
apartment. You don't understand that you don't have to be
stuffed in a bag tomorrow and taken to stay for four days at the
V-E-T. But if you did, you'd be dancing too! ;D

My dearest Princess Rita,
I'm sorry, but I really do have to go to work on a regular
basis. How else will I be able to afford your very expensive
prescription food and kibble? And your favorite petsitter has
to start a new job this week, so she won't be able to spend the
day with you when I'm not here.
You have your meds, a clean box, fresh food, and I left the
radio on for company. I'll be home in a couple of hours. Then
you can complain to me all you want.
Mama
(Note: The Princess Rita is in stage 2 kidney failure. Meds,
prescription food, and most of all, keeping her calm and happy).

Dear Mr. Dudley,
I know that you are a cat on a schedule. In the morning, you
need one of your mothers to get up and give you breakfast. And
at night, you need me to get into bed so you can get the warmest
part of the bed once I am settled in.
But. I am getting old. And when I go to use the bathroom, I do
not sit down, do my business, and immediately spring back up to
do your bidding. Live with the fact that it is going to take me
a few minutes. Do not get up on your back paws, and attempt to
push me off the toilet with your front paws. It has gotten to
the point that I jump whenever you go behind the toilet because
I am afraid the kitty cat shoving is about to begin.
Learn patience.
Love, Ma.
