Awwwww thanks for the compliments on the minishawl! I love it, I
keep pulling it out to look at it.
I already have a new thing to show you! I just made the Good
Ethnic Boy a teacozy, custom-fitted to his teapot and in his
team colours. ;D

Very cute! And, welcome! Fatted calf coming up!

A project half done.
On the old board (before I got banned), I mentioned that I had
received a vintage Singer sewing machine. I had to:
Replace the cords to the outlet and the foot pedal
Re-insulate all of the other wires
Replace the belt
Replace the rubber on the bobbin winder
Replace the carbon brushes in the motor (had to open the
casing to get the pieces of the old ones out)
Grease the motor and oil the friction joints.
Remove everything that could be removed to thoroughly clean and
polish it.....including the bobbin shuttle (PITA to put back
together).
It runs beautifully. And FWIW....it weighs 30 pounds!
Now, I have to build a cabinet for it. It came in a case that's
falling apart. I have the cast iron pieces (side legs, treadle
and wheel) from an older Singer to start with. I'll have to
wait a couple of weeks to get started on that, since we have
visitors arriving in less than a week and I have to prepare.
MIL had originally told DH that if we sell it, she wants half
the money. Now, she says if were going to sell it, she'd rather
have it back. ???
Nope. Not happening.

Well of course she'd rather have it back, those old Singers were
workhorses!
At that weight, it's not a Featherweight (221)! Those are
collected for their really good straight stitch.
If you want another project - my vintage Singer 328K needs to be
l looked at...and the local repair shop expects it to be six
weeks before it's ready for pickup...that's toward the end of
July!

I am hand quilting a quilt for the guest room. For some reason
it has turned out to be a little girl's room, in pastels and
with sweet pictures on the walls. Sorry, no little girls are
lined up to visit. Just my older sister. Anyway the quilt uses
up a lot of my white-on-white fabric squares and some pastels.
Twin size.
I received ANOTHER bag of yarn and am working on a big Tower
O'Yarn (boxes full) - eventually I will get around to making
newborn hats and blankets, as well as grownup hats to give out
next winter.

It's a 15-90. Made from cast steel. This is what I needed when
I made a denim quilt! I don't think she's going to be doing any
sewing. She's in the process of getting rid of stuff in
preparation for moving in with BIL.
My theory is that she mentioned to BIL that she gave it to me
and he's fussing because it might be worth something. And, of
course, I'm just a dumb hick who doesn't know about things like
that. But, I DO know that it's not worth nearly what they think
it might be. And the value to me FAR exceeds any money they
might get for it.
While I've worked on all my machines, and these old ones are
hard to screw up, I'd be hesitant to put hands on somebody
else's. Hope you get it back soon.

I am in the (very slow) process of doing some denim quilts too,
and I am using my Featherweight - precisely because it has the
ability to pound through the layers, unlike the more delicate
plastic modern machines. I used the FW to pound through binding
a wallet that was many layers with heavy interfacing. Nothing
like the old metal gals to do the heavy work! I have a metal
machine from the '60s too but I forget what model it is. I have
a hand crank machine too and I did sew something on it. I should
sell that one though - it's heavy as can be and I can't even
really display it anywhere.

Trying to decide if it could be fixed in the short time frame we
are in Georgia, where I bought it...or leave it here fore the
four to six weeks they are backed up...or replace the 328K with
an aqua 338...that uses the same cams and will cost about $50
less. No manual but the accessories from the 328K will probably
fit..

I'm in the middle of a making beach wreath for my front door -
lots of shells, starfish and teal ribbon, that sort of stuff.
Nothing as crafty as the rest of you! I don't have the patience
to quilt or the eyesight to crochet! ;)

My friends' granddaughter will be having first communion next
month. I will make a rosary for her as I did for them and the
girls' parents. It will be either beige turquoise or
mother-of-pearl. Picture to follow when finished; I need to
check whether I have to buy more beads.
Since I found some large crosses recently I will be making a few
skull-themed rosaries. Don't worry; I won't be giving any of
them to the child.
How does the attachment thing work?
