Directions: OpenStreetMap

When I go to an event, sometimes the place where the event takes place
is not trivial. There may not be a street address, so the organizers add
directions on how to get there: Waze.
I don't want to use Waze.
For me, the application to use is OsmAnd, an offline-map application I've
downloaded from F-Droid. The data used by the application is taken from
OpenStreetMap.
I'm going this Thursday to the hackerspace to talk about math, so I
have decided to write to Mastodon about the event, and added directions:
#openstreetmap.
What if the event takes place somewhere in the middle of nowhere, at
a spot not covered yet by OpenStreeMap? Well, in this case I plan ahead,
and then when I find I can add the place using OsmAnd or an application
such as Vespucci or on the web at https://www.openstreetmap.org/edit
You need an account to make changes to the map, Of course you are requested
to not troll the map.
Then, if you want to share the event on social media, you can add that the
spot was added to #openstreetmap.

The site also has a Discourse community at https://community.osm.org, to
find a local community, find your country under "Communities". The countries
are sorted by country name in English.
