The New Motherboard
===================
The motherboard in my old computer is gone.
Last month, I added a new power supply unit to it, but could not turn the
computer on.
While trying to remove the old power supply unit, I got one of the old fan'
s pin out of its socket.
Unfortunately, I told my parents about it, so they found a computer from which
I could take parts I need because they believed that the problem is the fa`.
I found that the computer still worked and had Windows 10 installed on it.
The computer stopped working one day. I had to wait some time for it to show
the greeting page,
the one asking me to click "Del" to enter BIOS setup.
My original plan was to install a new motherboard in my old computer case and
donate the newer one, because that case was bigger with more room to install
things inside it. I'd purchased a new Antec A30 fan to install, but found that
installing it was difficult. I tried to mount it when the motherboard
is out of the case, and manged somehow to get its ring attached to the MB.
So I decided to get the motherboard back in the case and continue the day
after. But then one screw got stuck in the motherboard and I couldn't unscrew
it, so I decided to use the smaller case, which has just a bit more space for
a microATX motherboard. I bought myself a motherboard because they are cheap
compared to a new computer and because I didn't want to buy a computer with an
operating system installed on it. I already have one, and I got one I bought
on ebay.
Installing the fan got easier because the mounting holes are in the right
place. But the fan is tall, which makes connecting the cpu cable from the
spaghetti monster to its connector on the motherboard is difficult with the
tall fan inside. But I've managed to get my thumb in there and connect the
cable.
Now, I have a computer that works.
About a week ago the disk with my FreeBSD system Fortunately, I had backed it
up to a tarball on another disk. So, now after a clean installation of version
13_0, I have it on en external SSD.
