Annoying Bluetooth Headphones

I bought yesterday blurtooth headphones and a USB to BT dongle for my
computer instead of the old wired ones. They are easily paired with a
smartphone. I used them to attend a webinar, but toward the end I heard
a voice telling me that the battery is low. Gosh darn it! Why can't the
headphones be smart enough to not disturb. If the battery is low or
dead, let the device just get unpaired and just let me hear the rest via
the phone's speaker.
