A God Not Mentioned in the Golden Bough
=======================================
The Golden Bough by James George Frazer is a great book about the history
of our beliefs. I feel lucky for having found a copy of a compilation
titled "The Golden Bough - a New Abridgement" at a street library, formerly a
phone-booth.
You can read there about rites almost common among peoples and religions
in the world. The second book is called "Killing the God", when the God is
a man chosen to be a king. And a god is not supposed to die of natural
causes such as old age or illness. So, he has to be killed and someone else
has to reign in his stead.
Now, as I read on the back cover of the book, it was last abridged by the
author and his wife in 1922, so for sure no tech giants are mentioned in
the book. I do not expect to find the name Google in that book. People
warship the Google and defend its reputation. They keeps it alive by explaining
that they have not found a search engine better than Google, and they
haven't found a better video platform than YouTube. There's no choice, but to
use Google. And wherever you turn your eyes, you'll meet the Google.
