# I'm a liar // 19-5-31

Recently I lied to my 6 year old son, but for a reason.

I was tucking him in for the night, when he started to sob. He asked me when the world would end, and I told him we only know for sure that in some billions of years, the sun would inflate and swallow the earth. He said *"No, I mean because of the warming and the seas rising and so on!"*
That's when I decided to lie to him, saying *"Don't worry, not even your grandchildren might witness that."*

As I understand it, we're already noticing it. To me it seems quite probable his children, should he ever be father, will live in a world different to ours. But I did not have neither the energy nor the cruelty to explain to a small, tired boy that islands will disappear, wars about water might break out, and millions could lose their home.

When I told my wife about it, she said she sees hope with all those people starting to worry about the climate. I wish it's not too late anyway...

And I'm a liar with this post, because I wrote it on an old iPhone and not with ed! ^-^
