Subject: Re: Story of a ROOPHLOP

That was a wonderful tragedy! I expect your theory about noise/smart
cancellation was correct. In fact, you probably could have sent it over a
walkie-talkie or FM transmitter more successfully.

I'm sad that I missed ROOPHLOCH this year - I definitely could have done it had
I been paying enough attention! Alas, I've been out of the gophersphere...
tunnels... gopherverse... whatever it's called, for too long. Work and life and
all of that.

However, I've found a device (see my [most recent feel][1] for more info) that
has enhanced my access to being able to write text. And, as text is very much
what Gopher is about, it works quite well.

Another thought that I had was that you might encode the wave form to .ogg
locally, and then have your wife play that on her phone speaker, which would
have bypassed the smart vocal encoding bits. Another thought would be some type
of video calling, which tends to transmit the audio with less noise
cancellation. I'm not oblvious to the hilarious irony of using those tremendous
amounts of computing power and bandwidth for transmitting simple text.

For 2023, may I suggest RFC 1149?
