Being Intentional - 2021-07-19 17:05:44
=======================================
Hi Friends! I've been absent writing on here for some time. There are a number
of things that I've allowed to take precedence in my life. I don't think that
they're all necessarily better, just things that I've allowed.
One thing that I've been getting better at but still not very good at is being
intentional. Being intentional about what I consume and what I produce. Most of
the time I'm actually not very intentional.. I go read mastodon and them when i
reach what I've read before I go and read Twitter - I have turned it to the most
recent feeds first, rather than hottest, so that's an improvement. But mainly
I'm just looking for dopamine
hits that I can passively consume. In the past I would've read my RSS feeds on
reader. Even via newsbeuter would have done it, however these still lack what
is for me is an essential feature.
The way that I've gone mindful with my personal backups is that everything
essential to me - email, articles I've read, etc. - go into a git repository.
Then I just use git to sync among my devices. But I really want a git-type
history of files that I can carry with me across devices - phone, laptop,
server... Something similar to what you get from Dropbox, Syncthing, or
Next/Owncloud, but more self-distributed I guess?
