Congratulations to Julien, who is getting married![1]

Leeb, I like your website[2]. Whether or not you switch to
gopher depends on what you need to do[3]. I have a few
different pages and they've all been neglected since I found
gopher. HTML markup is annoying. Writing is so much more
natural without it. That being said, stay tuned to
Solderpunk's phlog, because he's got something new up his
sleeve that might interest you.

xiled, that's a nice pda/phone collection[4]. Oddly, I spent
a few hours on the weekend reflashing the CF card in my
LifeDrive. Apps were getting corrupted and I'm not sure why.
The card hasn't seen a lot of use, so I hope wear is not the
issue. If it is, the original microdrive is still laying
around somewhere, but the device is so much faster with the
solid state storage.

I guess the next thing on my agenda will be playing around
with a raspberry pi zero w. Sloum's colorfield.space has
really inspired me, as have the handheld prototypes on
n-o-d-e.net. You can do so much with such a low-spec,
inexpensive computer. So I picked up a zero w and added a
regular zero to the order as well. There's already a USB
ethernet cable around here somewhere. The ethernet version
will become a pi-hole DNS server for my LAN, I think. We'll
see. The wifi version may turn into a DIY handheld. Fun
stuff for weekend projects. I'll save the rest of my
Christmas windfall until the Pine64 linux phone is released.

As far as 'culture' goes (can I even call it that?), I'm
watching the 2004 Battlestar Galactica series. I caught
snippets of it back when it first ran, but wasn't able to
watch regularly or catch onto the storyline. It's nice to be
able to finally watch it from start to finish. Back in
1978-79, I watched the original series every Sunday
night.... Well, that's almost true. On the first night, it
was pre-empted by a Middle East peace agreement involving
Jimmy Carter, Menachem Begin and Anwar Sadat. The network
may have run the rest of the premiere afterward in the US,
but they didn't in Canada. Grumble, grumble, curse. Eight-
year-old me wasn't impressed. But I never forgot who those
people were. So that's something.
