Two phrases in a conversation (zaibatsu), 05/30/2019
------------------------------------------------------------
My wife was sharing some thoughts with me on a subject, and
two phrases she used stood out to me.
# Sustainable Spirituality
Some might argue that all spirituality is invented, some
might argue that all spirituality is genuine; I feel that
reality is somewhere in the middle. I've seen reality in
spirituality, and I've seen a whole lot of contrivance. The
general thought here is that real spirituality is
sustainable. It may be difficult, it may require something
of the holder, but it isn't an endless pushing of a boulder
up a hill. If spirituality is nothing but pain, then we're
doing it wrong. Humans do a lot of things wrong in spiritual
concerns. Our spirituality is often unsustainable.
# Calcified Ideas
Should our hearts and minds be like a rock, frozen, hard,
and cold with ideas that we planted there once upon a time,
or should they be warm, piable, able to learn and grow?
If truth is solid and real, does it mean that our
understanding of truth has to be set in stone once and for
all, and that we're perfect enough to do that at any point
in our life? Can we have real truth, without a hard heart?
