solderpunk brought  up s24o  (sub-24hr overnight  biking) on
circumlunar's BBS, and dokuja  mentioned it in his phlog[1].
The idea  is simple: find  a short  route that you  can take
after work/etc., bike out, camp  overnight, and bike back in
the morning before work/etc.  Basically, a light-weight bike
and  campout  trip,  meant  to decrease  planning  time  and
packing requirements. At least, that's how I understand it.

I'm not a cyclist,  but I did get a bike  recently, and I do
love camping. Part of me thinks that I'd love to do this. In
searching, it appears  that the closest campground  to me is
about  11  miles  (17km).  I  think I  could  do  that.  The
elevation  map is  a tiny  bit concerning  to me  (though it
isn't extreme at all); i'd probably need to get some time in
on that bike before trying it out.

As for gear, I have very  light sleepware (a nice bivvy, and
fleece sleeve, make for a  tiny and light solution.) I don't
have  a small  and  light tent,  but I  do  have a  smallish
two-man tent that might work. I  could do a tarp, there seem
to be some awesome tarp-tent  methods out there. Not sure if
I'm  skilled  enough,  or  if it  would  provide  sufficient
protection  from the  bugs.  Maybe  a bug-screened  hammock,
though  I'd have  to go  and buy  one. I  have a  itty-bitty
hiking camp stove,  but the camp site might have  a fire pit
as well (there are 8 developed spots at this site, water and
a toilet.)  For an s24o,  I don't  think I'd need  much more
than these things.

I should probably  drive the route and see if  there is room
for a  bike on the  road. I'm not  sure I trust  the drivers
around mid-Missouri enough to  share the country routes with
them (sorry MO folks.)
