christyotwisty asked five questions to the ether[1], and so
I am responding below:

1. If you had to change your first name, what name would you
choose?

Ethan. Mostly because it contains, almost in order, some of
the most frequently used letters in the  written English
language (by some measures of such things.) I think the most
used letters are E-T-A-O-N-R-I-S. I always thought "Ethan"
was close to that. Maybe I could be named Etaonris. I've
considered that as a character name for a story, actually.
Someone has probably used it in that fashion before.


2. If you could bring one person back from the dead, whom
would you bring back? Why?

Now, this is a tough question. Would they be back for a
certain amount of time, or back for good, or back until they
died again? Let's just assume that they'd be back for a day
or so; just enough time to maybe ask a few questions, learn
a few things.

I'd say Jesus, but I think he already came back. I'm not
being flippant, that really would be my first choice I
think. But I'm guessing He doesn't count.

Maybe G.K. Chesterton. I say that because I find the fellow
fascinating. In philosophy, religion, and fiction, I enjoy
what he wrote. That's a unique combination, I think. I'd
love to pick his brain, or just listen to him talk about
things. I'd absolutely love to hear what he would have to
say about our modern age. He'd have to be back for more than
a day for that.


3. What are some of the wildest animals you've ever touched?

By wild do you mean untamed, or just plain crazy, or rare
and exotic? I've touched a wild bat (do they have tame
ones?) before, which looking back I realize was a very
stupid thing to do. My brother caught it in our attic.
Generally when you catch a bat, it means there is something
wrong with the thing. It's not a good idea for most people
to catch and touch a bat.

I've also touched a mole (also untamed.) It was ugly and
disgusting. And a large octopus at an aquarium. It looked
mean, but wasnt.


4. What is your favourite aroma or fragrance?

Orange blossoms. Not some bottled form, but on the tree.
We had those in AZ. In Oregon we had dogwood and ornamental
cherry blossoms, but I can't bring up their smell in my
memory as readily. I also love the smell of decaying earth,
which was strong in Oregon. The "forest" smell I suppose.


5. If you could be invisible (and bypass laser, electronic
or heat detection) for one day, where would you go? What
would you do?

Really, I'd prefer to be invisible everywhere in public that
I go. The grocery store; I think less people would block the
aisles if I were invisible.

But no, I wouldn't waste such a super power on the grocery
store. There are a few living authors that I'd love to
haunt, but my guess is that their lives are not that
interesting- I'd rather talk to them visible. Maybe they'd
be more open with me if I were invisible... like talking to
a spirit. That would be fun, I choose that.
