Probably about time I post a little update on the z80
projects on the phlog. Though, there are many things
being bandied about in the phlogosphere that I also want
to sit down and write about, sustainable living being one
of the most interesting I think.

In any case, this past week or two has been a little
emotionally draining, so I haven't done much in the way of
writing. I have, on the other hand, tried to spend some
time thinking about other things, choosing to work on my
budding electronics hobby skills. I'm working on taking
Grant Searle's "Simple z80" computer design and adding my
own form of makeshift "mass storage." On my list of things
to accomplish this decade is saving files to a cassette
drive, so I am going to go for that first. Plus, it looks
to be super easy.

So far, the project is going well. The only part that I'm
not really enjoying is the soldering. I've already built
the design on breadboard, but I want something more lasting
so I'm going to try it again on prototype board. Then, I
think I'll move on to one of the already-made PCB designs
for the final version. I'd like to build the final version
into a case, hopefully made of wood, but 3D-printed as a
backup.

Pictures and more info are in my gopher hole, projects
section.
