A little discussion is going on about the SDF Minecraft
server[1][2]. Tomasino asked whether or not the server might
be a good fit for his son, to which I offer the following
data points:

- I've been on and off the SDF minecraft server since I
 joined SDF in 2016
- The world has been reset at least twice in that time,
 possibly more
- Lag has always been a big issue, but it's been better
 lately
- I've never seen harsh or crude language in the chat
- People are generally polite and helpful
- Griefing is only an occasional problem

My kids have access to SDF, but choose Hypixel over it every
time. The problem they complain about most is lag; my kids,
at least, have a hard time being patient with technology
(where did I go wrong!).

As for kid safety, I think the SDF server is pretty good by
nature of the users. On the other hand, there are zero
protections, so it could go any direction at any time. It is
moderated. Griefing and abusive behavior would likely end in
a ban, but that would be after the behavior.

If you're aiming for something smaller than Hypixel, I think
the SDF server is a great choice for kids. Hope that helps!
