Waterbone Tibet                                               04/10/23
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I don't  generally listen  to music  while I'm  working. Today,  I was
feeling a  little distracted by  external sounds, and decided  to take
control of my aural inputs. My wired  headset is a little short for my
taste, with  my desktop  sitting on  the floor under  my desk,  and it
picks  up RF  from the  ham radios  in here.  My desktop  doesn't have
Bluetooth... so,  I copied a  few (3gigs worth  is a few  these days!)
songs over to my phone to listen to on some wireless earbuds.

Ok, first, being  a middle-aged man, I really needed  to trim some ear
hair for those earbuds to work right.  Guess that tells you how much I
use them!  Maybe it's  TMI, but it  was part of  the experience.  As I
trimmed, the ear  attachment on the electric beard  trimmer started to
get warm from friction, and I  was reminded of the time those Romanian
hair cutters  offered to burn  my ear hair out  with a lighter,  and I
accepted. I'm  pretty sure I wrote  about that on gopher.  It wasn't a
pleasant  experience. Hadn't  thought of  that  in a  while, that  was
interesting.

Anyway, you'll be relieved to know that my ears are nice and trim now.
Sorry for dragging you through that, but thanks for sticking around.

So, the earbuds are  doing great right now. I decided  to listen to an
album from 1998,  Waterbone Tibet. It's got a great  90's global vibe,
and I  find it meditative.  The tracks  are longer than  average, most
between 5 and almost 7 minutes. The longer tracks are less distracting
for me somehow. The  first track that loads on my  phone is "A Child's
Prayer", which is interesting. "Waterdance" is playing currently.

The sound of the mechanical keyboard breaks through both the music and
the reasonable seal  on the earbuds. It's  piercing, apparently. Maybe
other people can hear it around the house? I should ask.

Of course, between  getting music all setup, and writing  this post, I
haven't done any work  since I decided that I needed  music to help me
with the distractions.... maybe the distractions are internal.
