Disconnecting
-------------

I haven't phlogged in quite a while, I recently spent about a week away at a
workshop/conference type of thing for work.  Not a lot of downtime, and I only
had my work laptop with me, which very deliberatedly doesn't have my SDF SSH
keys on it, nor does it have my Matodon account password in its password
manager, so that I can occasionally get some work done it.  Thus not only have
I not been phlogging but I've been somewhat disconnected from my online world in
general.  I'm having some trouble easing back into it.  My Mastodon timeline
looks like a blooming, buzzing confusion composed 90% of stuff that I honestly
didn't miss at all while away, but know that I was quite enjoying when I was
last in the thick of it.  I'm wondering if I should take the opportunity to cull
it mercilessly while I'm feeling distant from it.  In general I am trying to
make the time I spend online a little more focussed and deliberate, as otherwise
it's far too easy for me to whittle away whole chunks of the day on nothing of
substance.  One of the nice things about the phlogosphere is that it's far too
slow moving and nowhere near glitzy enough to be a distracting time sink.

I am slowly catching up on what everybody wrote while I was away.  Let me take
this opportunity to announce that I, too, am very much a conservative in
jandal's recently-used sense of the word.
