Gopher and more...

Been trawling around gopher this week, reading phlogs and peeking at the
corners of gopherspace. I've also been fine-tuning my use of vf-1 as well,
with thanks to solderpunk.
It's been a fairly busy week at work this week, but mostly catch-up. With
the exception of a media interview, and some last minute chaos that stressed
my staff late Friday afternoon, I've been able to concentrate on catching up
on my 'pending' and 'not yet' to-do lists, as well as finish some reports
that have been overdue.
We had a public event today, so was at the office for most of the day. Was a
good day... one of my favourite events.
Next year's election seems to have come early. Came home today to find
someone stuffing 'pre-campaign' campaign literature in my mailbox.
Me: Hey.
Dude: Uh, hey, I'm with <member of parliament>.
Me: Congratulations. How long have you been together?
Dude: Uh, no, we're not together, I just work for him.
Me: Isn't that a conflict of interest?
Dude: What? No, I *just* work for him.
Me: I see. What can I do for you?
Dude: Yeah, so we noticed that you're new in the area. Wondering how you
voted in the last election?
Me: How did I vote? Well, I went to a polling place, and cast a ballot.
Dude: No, no, I mean who did you vote for?
Me: One of the candidates, I think. Is this a skill test in democracy? Have
I passed?
