They sold that IP long ago. They are just broadcasting it now.

I haven't watched TV in years now. The number of shows that I cared about got
smaller and smaller as they either went off the air, or went Woke.

The "viewers like you" probably only accounted for 50% of their operating
budget. And that would have been decades ago when they played shows that people
wanted to watch.
I remember about 20+ year ago when I moved out to the area that I live now, I
used to watch PBS a good deal. Tracks Ahead, Red Green, etc. Then I got to an
area that I now recognize as more left-wing and the only time those shows got
broadcast was during pledge week.
I talked to a local who'd been here for a long time and he told me that was the
norm for this PBS station. They only play the good stuff during pledge week,
but back to ballet, opera, etc. that the station president likes.
It was obvious that if the local PBS was an actual, non-subsidized broadcaster
they would quickly go out of business.
