 If you copy the MP3s to your Hard drive first do you still hear
the pops?

 If the above doesn't help, then copy them to the HDD and try running
a filter on them that will remove pops and clicks, I use Wavelab which I
bought a number of years ago (In your case probably cheaper to just
buy the MP3's from a service then to buy wavelab) and it does a pretty
good job of getting rid of pops' and clicks from any MP3's I've made from
old records or even cleaning tape hiss from old cassettes.
