Part of the problem with the Maximus/Squish code when it was released was that
it no longer built properly on the operating systems it already ran on
(DOS/OS2/Win32). I don't know if the situation has changed since then, but
certainly the main driving factor behind Maximus development was to get it
running on Linux, not add new features.

That sounds like a good advertisement for Synchronet.
