Hi,

actually  "Mittelschmerz" does have a meaning in German. It's a particular kind
of pain, some woman experience during (approximately in the middle of) their
menstruation.

I would guess that even most Germans have never heard the term.

As to _why_ Helmut might have asked for it, I have no idea.
