The CTRL-codes are only interpreted for display files and not the prompts.

MBSE does not have actual support for plain text file display using the .ASC
extension right now but it is something we are working on. For now, all
display files should have the extension of .ANS and will be displayed properly.

All you need to know is in the documentation. :) I don't know how many people
using MBSE actually use the mail system.
