I've been putting off thinking about this, but today, while tracking down some
details on the $MHOME issue (results soon, it's not as big a deal as it might
seem), I came across Michiel's pktextract program, which appears to be a first
step towards an eventual SQL based web interface. It could be that, anyway.

I would do a good review of the available web forums based on, say mysql or
forks, before doing one from the ground up. Part of me wants to resist the
whole idea, because I'm leery of people doing a lot of work that people who
aren't even in the community are going to end up making a lot of money off of
, and suck up resources, generally without giving any thing back beyond wasted
time and attention, but the plus side is that it would, or could, at least,
show a larger audience  one way that distributed messaging, by the user,
for the users, and  for the users, can work. I see a lot of people here who
get
all enthused about the slick bells and whistles of modern web design, but I
could really care less about that. To each his own, though, and I guess
somebody has to be there to make sure the baby doesn't get thrown out with the
bath water. I't be nice too if it could be kept simple enough to work at
dial-up speeds.

My 2 cents, anyway
