Hello RJ!

mbse always (at least here) updates the file after any changes to the echo
(Mbse) DB.  That has been the case from the first release I have used up to
the
latest (1.0.6).

If your system is not getting updated I suggest that you:

1.  Check the o/p from the error.log file and see if there is a msg about it.
2.  Check the file attributes to ensure that mbse has w (write) access
enabled,
i.e., using ls -la golded.*  you should see:

------
[mbse@Applewood etc]$ ls -la golded.*
-rwxrwxr-x 1 mbse bbs  4784 Mar 25 18:51 golded.cfg*
-rwxrwxr-x 1 mbse bbs 16221 Mar 25 22:02 golded.inc*

-rw-r--r-- 1 mbse bbs  2048 Aug  7  2015 golded.log
-rw-r--r-- 1 mbse bbs  1026 Mar 28 13:55 golded.msg
------

Linix distros can and do have different default file and directory creation
settings from the base standard and these can interfere with the way mbse
works
as I sometimes notice with Mageia.
