Hello, all, new here so bear with me. I'm an old dude, going on 47 in fact, but
I've been playing since I was like 15 (1976, believe it or not!). My dad has
been a musician forever, and at 69 yrs. old, he still is able to play a little.
I guess I inherited the talent from him (even though I've FAR surpassed his
level of playing). He played guitar for a long time, then had to give it up for
a while as his fingers got too fat to control the strings like he needed to. At
that time, there was a big demand for bass players, so in 1962 or '64 he up and
bought a great Sunburst Fender Jazz bass, which he later re-painted when the
finish got worn really bad. He still owns it, but I have a feeling when he
leaves us for good it'll be mine. Recently, he also bought himself a brand new
Fender Strat (to the tune of about $1000 or more, it's American made) and it's
quite a beautiful guitar. Plays extremely well too. Hopefully he'll be leaving
that one to me as well (I am the only son of 5 children, and the oldest to
boot, I think it's a pretty good bet at this point!). I've had so many
different guitars over the years I can only remember most of them, but what
really amazed me was the Gibsons. Those Les Paul Customs are some of the most
awesome instruments I ever had the pleasure of just plain SHREDDING! People say
I'm pretty good, actually unbelievably good, and I'm starting to agree with
them now. Even though it took over 30 years to get here.
Well, I'm about out of time now, just bored and thought I'd check out what was
here on the ol' BBS. Anybody feel like chatting about it, I'll look in from
time to time and see who's been here.
