It reminds me a lot of amateur radio clubs. Robert's Rules and politics because
prior to the internet and cellphones it was needed... There were a ton of
people in radio back then.

Fido and BBSing feel similar. There just aren't that many of us anymore. We can
probably go a bit more lightweight with rules and politics than we needed to
back in the 80s and 90s.
