It is not in my job-description to lead the way into software-development. Really, read in P4 what it says.
Any development is done by a person who sees the need and/or the opportunity and takes it from there. There are examples enough.
You make the same error as almost all of the old-ones who left the network eons ago and then return with a 1990-ies mindset in a 2025-reality.
I'm not in here for the glory or the power, you probably have no idea how insignificant Fidonet is on the world level. True ... some people have basked in power, but that is only imagined power. A ZC is mainly powerless. There is no way of dispensing wisdom like the orange-one is doing with his presidential decrees.

Very original even.
In the framework of the UN's Agenda-21 I was at Svalbard (Spitsbergen) and one day from Longyearbyen we went to Barentzburg with an icebreaker. Barentzburg being a Russian coalmining settlement on Svalbard which during summer is often visited by cruise ships, we went there in winter just after the polar night ended. There were some souvenir outlets which opened just for the few of us there and I bought that fur hat with the insignia of Ukrainian air defenses. That was 1997 ... 28 years ago. Dirt cheap ...
Coming from the very modern Norwegian settlement of Longyearbyen with all modern amenities and getting to a place where there was 1 public phone and every of the coaling workers got a monthly quotum on a mechanical phone card to call home for 15 minutes ... per month ... was a mind boggling realisation how well we have it in the west...
