So with a typewriter, you would hit a two-key combination typing the accent/umlaut/etc and then the letter in the same place? That's pretty neat.

I would imagine. Just about everywhere outside of the US uses special characters of some sort. MS went along because they *had* to go along, otherwise they wouldn't have been able to continue their quest of world domination.

I shouldn't have any issues setting it up. I've been using the 'allow8bit' keyword in my othernet since it was added to makenl. I'll just have to figure out what to do with it after it is created. ;)
