Greetings Holger!

HG> In a message dated 09-01-14, Kent Timm said to Roy Witt:

KT>> EchoLink is a VOIP program for hams only.  You can use it to connect
KT>>  repeaters, or person to person, conferences, or links from echolink
KT>> to RF with a radio that setup with a pc to computer audio
KT>> interface. Some people frown on it saying it's not "true radio", but
KT>> I think if you like using it, it's all good.

HG> NO, EchoLink or echo link is NOT amateur radio. It's only for people
HG> that aren't capable of advancing their license status.

That's not what I'm seeing on EL...there are Extra Class licensees on it
as well as some whose calls seem like beginners. Also, there are those
who're using an APP on there phones that give them 'portable' operation
and as we know, cell phones use our airwaves.

   Have a day!
