This is not the first/only citizen this has happened to.

The last bit... warning him that he might accidentally get a follow-up
letter... sounds to me like they are pretty sure he will.

They are not saving money sending "get out" emails and letters to citizens,
or tying up congressional time getting these fixed.  That is what happens
when you fire people that know what they are doing and replace them with AI.

I know that there will be some that might claim that it is an "honest
mistake" or "was expected," but I also know they'd be the same ones
screaming bloody murder if it had happened while Obama or Biden were
President.
