I don't really remember why, but a few weeks ago, I just started reading some
of the books on my shelf. They've been sitting there for ... a few decades.
They aren't tech books but, well, novels.
I didn't enjoy reading novels in the past. But somehow this has changed. Now
it's pretty relaxing and lets me unwind.
One of the books was "Skin", an X-Files novel by Ben Mezrich, the other one
was "Geisterstunde" by Wolfgang Hohlbein. Neither were challenging to read,
they just play a little movie in your head and that's it. I mention this
because, you know, some people are of the opinion that books have to challenge
you and all that. Sorry, not interested. I'm being challenged all day long.
Just tell me a story.
Now that I'm done with all the books that I had left, I bought a new one. It's
called "Die Familie gegenueber" ("The Family Across the Street") by Nicole
Trope -- and I have absolutely no idea what to expect. Actually, "I have no
expectations" would be a better way to put it. Just tell me a story. I doesn't
have to be spectacular. (Maybe it *is*, no idea yet.)
I plan on buying new books for a while and then eventually switch to, well, I
don't know how you call these things: There are little closets on the streets
in our town where you can just take a book without paying anything. Of course,
you're also expected to eventually put one of your own books in. It's a book
sharing closet, if you will. And I really like that idea.
