GitHub about to be acquired by Microsoft? Looks like it's time to
finally move my stuff away from GitHub then.
There are many reasons, it's not just "Microsoft will ruin GitHub". If I
move, there'll be a full blog post about it.
Oh, and this is not a new idea. I wanted to do this 5 years ago.[0] I
only ended up on GitHub in the first place, because I didn't have a
private server back in 2009 ...
Well, we'll see.

Oh, that was quick. Both companies now have announced the deal:
- <

- <
https://news.microsoft.com/2018/06/04/microsoft-to-acquire-github-for-7-5-billion/>
This means it's official.
Gotta move my stuff now. Luckily, that's pretty easy for me. I never
used any features that could result in a vendor lock-in. "GitHub Issues"
were a nice feature, but the traffic on my projects is very, very low,
so I can easily switch to "if you find a bug, drop me an e-mail".
Actually, I'm glad this happened. As I said above, I wanted to move my
code for years. Now I have yet another incentive. ;-)
