Most of my family pooled some money and gave my grandfather an iPad.
It was an hilarious site. They spent the whole evening explaining all
the cool features and stuff. The whole family, including my
grandmother. On christmas.
It's an Apple product. It sucks. But it's sooooo convenient, isn't it?
Oh, wait, it just crashed? Nah, no problem, just do this and that. Ah,
there you go. So, how do I do $foo? Just do $bar! Ahhhhhh, that's
easy!
It was really interesting to watch this first encounter in real life.
Before they even knew the iPad, they've decided that it's a good
thing. With this set of mind, you can easily tolerate all the
downsides. If you want something to be good, it just has to be good.
Even more so, if you paid a lot of money.
This is nothing new, of course, but it was the first time I witnessed
it in real life. Watching people I know very well.
Congratulations, Apple. You really mastered the art of manipulation
people -- "marketing", they call it.
