For the last couple of months, I've been working exclusively with SSD-
driven computers. It's interesting to  see  that  I've  become  pretty
impatient. In the past, it was no problem for me to wait for a program
to start up or for the computer to boot. Now it's driving me  nuts  if
this takes longer than a couple of seconds.

Funny. My machines used to take one to two minutes to boot.

redshift[1]  is  a  pretty neat program.  It automatically adjusts the
color temperature of your screen according to the current time. During
nighttime,  you get a red-ish screen which is very comfortable to look
 at.

Dug up an old radio. I really miss the simplicity of FM radio.  To  my
surprise,  this  is  almost  useless today. There is so much noise and
interference from all the devices around me. I can tune  in  to  only,
say,  3  or  4  stations.  Remember, radio devices of the eighties and
nineties had "memory" for about 10 to 20 radio stations...

Learning a foreign language (Tibetan, in  my  case)  without  actually
*using*  it  every  day is pretty hard. Maybe it's impossible. I don't
 know.

I do want to learn something completely new and unusual, though.

Thus, I've decided to learn morse code. It's not  a  language  but  an
alphabet,  so  it's  pretty  universal.  This  means I could use it in
 everyday life for nerdy stuff.

The Koch method looks good: kochmorse[2].
