This new workstation of mine is absolutely incredible.
I'm now able to download almost any operating system and run it in
VirtualBox -- completely from RAM, including the downloaded files. The
integrated (!) graphics processor is the fastest GPU I've ever had --
I don't need a dedicated GPU anymore. The SSD slams the data right
into my face. The OGG/Vorbis encoding process for a full album takes a
couple of seconds. The machine actually boots up in about 1.5 seconds.
And it does not make any fscking noise! It's silent!
Not that I *need* 32 GB RAM. I don't *need* all that computing power.
Today. But I plan to use this machine for 10 years or longer. And I'm
sure, in 10 years I'm going to need all that "fancy stuff". Remember,
some years ago, no one would have thought that a web browser could use
50 MB RAM or even more. One of my first machines had 6 MB RAM -- this
was so much compared to my previous 640 KB RAM! What would I need 6 MB
RAM for?!
I'm very glad that I've waited 7 years to buy a new computer. This new
workstation is a huge step forward -- for me. Had I bought a new
computer, say, 2 years ago, it wouldn't be any fun at all.
Oh, dear. Amazing!

Made a little script that uses rsync to create "incremental" backups
like Apples Timemachine does. Nice.
