In  Arch  Linux,  you build your own packages using "makepkg". You can
configure how to compress the packages: gzip, xz, ...

I suddenly realized that you can also specify NO compression.  makepkg
will  then  create a simple tarball. On my "old" machine, this results
 in a huge speed-up.

Actually, I wonder why the default is xz compression. How many  people
keep  their  packages  around?  I  usually  delete  them  once they're
 installed.

Bought an RC helicopter about two weeks ago. It's a "Nine Eagles  Solo
Pro  V1".  This  is  fun  as hell. I'm a complete beginner, I've never
flown anything -- not an airplane, not a helicopter. Yes,  I've  spent
countless hours in flight simulators but I don't think that counts.

The  Solo  Pro  is an amazing little thing. I've crashed it many times
(unfortunately -- but I'm a beginner, remember) but nothing has broken
 yet. Phew!

I'm  already dreaming of flying big helicopters. :-) That's a long way
to go, though, as I'm still learning the  basics  --  controlling  the
heli when its nose is pointing towards me is very hard.

It's  interesting  to see how nearby objects or changes in temperature
 affect flight behaviour.

Flight time ranges from 4 to 7 minutes. I thought,  "hmm,  that's  not
much",  but  the  funny thing is that I can't keep up my concentration
much longer. The batteries need a break and so does my brain.

Anyway, I got a new hobby. Moreover, it's a hobby that has  little  to
do  with  computers.  I  could have bought an AR Drone instead... That
would have been boring, though. I wanted to learn something completely
 new.

For  whatever reason, they thought a user would manually type the URL.
