The internet rocks.

While  driving,  some  people  insisted on turning on the radio. Well,
okay.  A song was played --  I  instantly  knew  it.  But  I  couldn't
remember the title. After some seconds, I realized it's not the song I
knew but only the melody. The other people couldn't  help  me  finding
the title. I already heard that melody like 10 or 15 years ago, that's
 for sure.

I hate that. I must find the name of that song.

As I came back home, I started my browser and opened the web  page  of
the  radio  station.  There's  a  playlist  listing  every song with a
 timestamp!  Great.

Turned out that song was "Criminal" by Britney Spears.  D'oh.   That's
certainly not what I was looking for.

Luckily,  there's  an entry in the english wikipedia[1] for that song.
There's one in the german wikipedia, too, but only the english one has
a reference to Supertramp's "The Logical Song". Aha!

I searched on YouTube for that song and listened to it. No. Well, yes.
That's the melody! But I was sure I first listened to that melody in a
techno song or something like that.

Piece  of  cake:  There's a wikipedia entry[2] for "The Logical Song",
too!  At the bottom, a version by "Scooter"  is  mentioned  --  called
"Ramp!".  Visiting  YouTube  again.  That's it. Yes, I confess, I once
 listened to Scooter.

 Mystery solved.

Afterwards, I told a friend of mine about all this. He's  a  musician.
To  him, that's two different melodies. He admit's that they "may feel
similar" but it's not the same notes. That's interesting. Seems like I
perceive  music  in  a  totally  different  way. I, too, can hear that
there's differences in the notes but they're subtle to  me.  It's  the
 "feeling" that matters most.
