Had a dream last night about a song.

And I was performing. I've never sung or played an instrument before,
but there I was. Only I wasn't me. I was a fat white man with a short
blond beard, and I was shredding guitar, screaming *Jump Into The
Fire*, and then there was a long electronic solo.

It's a song that I like a lot. No idea why it was on my mind though.
I woke up humming the opening, driving bass line.

I've been on a Nilsson kick lately. I've always been a fan, probably
since hearing the Muppets do *Lime in the coconut* as a kid. And I
just finished reading Eric Idle's *Always Look On The Bright Side Of
Life*, which made frequent mention of Nilsson as a drinking buddy and
flamboyant spotlight hog whenever he happened to make it on stage
with the Pythons.

I was trying to remember where my afinity for this song in particular
came from. Aside from it just being a perfect fucking rock song, of
course. I had a false memory of having heard Warren Zevon cover it on
a live album, but I couldn't find that track when I went to look for
it. I think I was misremembering *Stand in the fire* as *Jump into
the fire*.

What I *did* find though, what I had forgotten about, was a face
melting *Jump into the fire* by LCD Soundsystem at their Madison
Square Garden farewell concert.
