-------------------------------------------------------------------
Oh boy, it's been a while that i wrote something. Due to ridiculous
end-of-year panic at work, i haven't been able to do much else than
working and sleeping. Ugh. But hey, its finally the end of the
year, and i am enjoying a couple of (well deserved) days off from
work. Which is very...very good, as i need some rest.
With a couple of days to spend, i started cleaning sorting and
updating things. For example i finally updated my Debian
installation from Stretch to Buster. This is something i already
wanted to do for quite a while, but couldn't due to limited time.
(Of course having limited internet also doesn't help either here)
I have to say that every time i update my little Debian machine,
i'm impressed with how flawless the whole updating process goes.
This time again nothing broke... Well, one little thing broke, as
my Xorg wouldn't start anymore, due to some changes in handling
xinitrc files. But after tossing out my .xinitrc file, everything
was running fine. (Yes i haven't stepped off X completely yet, as i
like to fiddle around with programming stupid little graphics
programs using SDL).
Due to the update, the console font i use seems to have changed to
a slightly larger version. But to be honest i don't mind that at
all, as it looks good, and is easier on my eyes. So i haven't
looked into the why's and how's of this.
Now after this nice update i should still clean up some stuff that
i don't use so much anymore. There are still some packages that can
be removed.
When i was updating, i was thinking i could perhaps do a completely
clean installation, to have a blank slate, and start off again with
the bare minimum of 'junk' installed. Currently i've been using
this Debian install since... Squeeze (version 6) i think. Must be
at least already 5 or 6 years or so.
Ah well, lets see. Maybe i do that someday. For now, i'm going to
enjoy my newly updated Debian Buster :)
