The Alkaline Earth Metals are metallic elements found in Group 2 of
the Periodic Table. All Alkaline Earth Metals are strong reducing
agents, and have an oxidation number of +2, making them very
reactive. These metals are also shiny, lustrous, and good conductors
of heat and electricity. They have low melting points, boiling
points, and densities (but higher than those of Alkali Metals).
