There is a new sheriff in town...or in Perry County!
And he has quite a tough act to follow.
James Hood has been the sheriff there since 1978.
Thats's 36 years and 9 terms.
He made history in 1978 being the youngest sheriff to be
elected in Alabama at the age of 28 as well as being the
state's first African American sheriff.
Billy Jones will begin his first term in office January
17, 2015.
