After getting into a car accident over the summer I had |
|
no need for my GPS until I got a new car a few weeks ago. |
|
Unfortunately, I lost the mount for it that I used to |
|
have. A trip to Best Buy later though, and I had a new |
|
mount. |
|
|
|
It was the MagicMount by Scosche, which worked by having |
|
you stick a metal plate onto the back of your GPS, and |
|
that metal plate stuck to a magnet on the mount. This |
|
worked great. . . Until the second time I tried to use it |
|
and the magnet pulled the metal plate right off of my |
|
GPS. |

After several futile attempts to get it to stick back |
|
onto my GPS I decided to go another route and just make |
|
my own. |
|
|
|
This piece is for a pretty specific problem, but in order |
|
to expand the possible range of uses, I'm uploading two |
|
versions. The first is designed to simply fit onto a GPS |
|
and has a blank back so someone can modify it to attach |
|
to whatever they want. The other one is specifically |
|
designed to attach the GPS to the clip on a magic mount |
|
the magnet would normally fit onto. I have a Garmin nuvi |
|
2597LMT that I used for the dimensions. I don't know |
|
whether this kind of mount would work on other units or |
|
not, but you're obviously welcome to try. |

I'm also going to upload a .STP file for it too in order |
|
to make it as easy as possible to modify. If you have any |
|
questions or suggestions, please let me know. |
